Puppy Information
In four weeks, at the age of 3 months, bring your new puppy to get vaccinated and dewormed.
(This would be their second vaccination as they receive their first from us)

For the health of your dog, avoid contact with other dogs (this includes where other dogs have peed) until your dog is four months old.

Anyone handling the pup should have their hands washed prior.

Don’t give chocolate to your puppy because even a small amount can kill him/her.

If you notice that your dog has fleas, just use normal human shampoo. Make a rich lather and let dry. Rinse in half an hour. Please use human shampoo because the pet shampoo contains poison. Don’t use flea collars because shampoo will work just as well.

Avoid any bone which can splinter, such as: shoulder bones, and large knuckle bones. Avoid commercial rawhide products, as they are known to break into bits, swell up and choke your puppy, or even cause blockages. Hard plastic bones made specifically for cleaning puppy’s teeth are recommended.

Do not delay the training of your puppy. Any bad habits such as jumping, biting, scratching, digging holes, chewing on shoes, ect are more easily corrected at a young age. What is cute for a puppy is no acceptable when the puppy gets older. Be consistent, as to not confuse the pup. They can learn an incredible amount from seven weeks to three months. Don’t miss the great training opportunity.

Very clear, or watery diarrhea must be monitored very closely, because the puppy will dehydrate very quickly. Many clear stools in a row may indicate that you puppy has Parvo. Seek advice from your veterinarian.

Also, any games involving ropes, socks or rags (tug-o-war) should be avoided because this may teach aggression.

Don’t give your puppy pig ears because this increases the chances of your children getting salmonella.
